Me? Quilting? Who would have guessed!

My first quilt!  I did not think I would ever take up quilting.  I never had the patience to sew or mend anything and always would get frustrated with my sewing machine.  But we moved to a small town and I was introduced to quilting and thought why not give it a try.  Well, I think I can safely say I am hooked!  The diffference must be the journey of actually making something.   I studied a bit of graphic design and art in college.  I have always had my hand in something involving creativity; photography, scrapbooking, interior design.  So I guess quilting is a good fit for a new creative outlet.  I LOVE color and found half the fun was in choosing fabric and colors.    As you can see from my first few projects I like strong colors and modern design.  But my challenge in my next project will be to make something out of brighter, fun fabric colors.

This was my first quilting project.  The pattern was done in oriental fabrics and I used that as inspiration for my fabric choices.

Second project from the same pattern.  Decided to make one of these table runners for my Mom for Christmas.  Used the great cream and black fabric for backing, thought it would make a good alternative to the front so she can change up the look on her table.
